Our Shared Values: A Community Centered on Love
At the heart of our community lies a set of shared values, newly embraced to guide our journey together. These values—Interdependence, Pluralism, Justice, Transformation, Generosity, and Equity—reflect our commitment to love as the foundation for a flourishing, inclusive, and transformative society.
Our Core Values
Interdependence
We recognize that we are connected to each other, the Earth, and all life. Our well-being is bound together, and we strive to nurture relationships that foster mutual care and responsibility (UUA, 2023).
Pluralism
We honor the diversity of beliefs, identities, and cultures within and beyond our community. Pluralism invites us to celebrate difference and to create spaces where all voices are valued (Harvard Pluralism Project).
Justice
We are committed to dismantling oppression and fostering fair treatment for all. Justice calls us to act for the dignity, rights, and flourishing of every individual (UUA, 2023).
Transformation
We believe in the power of growth and change, both personally and collectively. Transformation invites us to evolve, learn, and deepen our commitments to one another (UUA, 2023).
Generosity
We cultivate a spirit of giving, sharing our resources, time, and talents for the good of all. Generosity is an act of love that sustains our community and empowers positive change (Greater Good Science Center, UC Berkeley).
Equity
We strive to ensure that everyone has what they need to thrive, acknowledging and addressing systemic inequalities. Equity is about removing barriers so all can participate fully and equally (World Health Organization).
