As UUs we are encouraged to build our own theology–borrowing from other religions is coded in our DNA. Sometimes borrowing from other spiritual traditions is benign, sometimes harmful, sometimes offensive. We need to pay attention to not further marginalize the already religiously marginalized and not cause offense, taking the time to learn about what we’re doing and welcome uncomfortable conversations.
There’s no denying that these days shake our faith.
They test our resolve.
They challenge the stories we’ve inherited.
All the accepted truths we hold about the bending or the moral arc of history toward justice,
of love winning, and of good triumphing in the end, are being stretched to breaking.
Yes, it’s difficult knowing what lies years or months down the road, but honestly, it can be difficult knowing what to do in the next moment.
